Thaedros Subclasses

Monk: Warrior of the Untamed

Monks who embrace the wild, chaotic energy of Thaedros, channeling its unpredictability into deadly martial arts.

Monk: Warrior of the Untamed

The Warriors of the Untamed do not resist the chaotic magic of Thaedros—they embrace it, channeling its energy through their ki to redirect, transmute, and ultimately tame the volatile forces of the world. These monks move effortlessly through unstable magical fields, turning destructive energy into fuel for their martial prowess.

3rd Level: Ki Conduit

Your body becomes attuned to the chaotic flows of Thaedros' magic, allowing you to absorb and redirect magical energy.

Energy Absorption. When you take damage from a spell or magical effect, you can use your reaction and spend 1 Focus Point to reduce the damage by your Wisdom modifier (minimum 1) and store the energy. Your next Unarmed Strike before the end of your next turn deals additional damage of the absorbed type equal to your Martial Arts die.

Thaedrosian Awareness. You can sense the presence and general direction of magical effects within 60 feet of you, including spells, magical items, and supernatural phenomena. This sense doesn't reveal specific details, only that magic is present.

6th Level: Arcane Redirection

Your mastery over magical flows allows you to turn hostile magic to your advantage.

Deflect Magic. When you are targeted by a spell that requires a ranged spell attack, you can use your reaction and spend 1 Focus Point to attempt to deflect it. Make a Dexterity saving throw against the spell's attack roll. If your save equals or exceeds the attack roll, the spell misses and you can redirect it at a creature within 30 feet of you, using the original attack roll.

Flow State. When you use your Energy Absorption feature, you enter a heightened state until the start of your next turn. During this time, your movement doesn't provoke opportunity attacks and your next Unarmed Strike has advantage.

11th Level: Master of the Unchained Flow

You have learned to flow with chaotic energy rather than fight against it.

Enhanced Absorption. Your Energy Absorption now reduces damage by your Wisdom modifier + your Monk level (minimum 1), and you can use it without spending a Focus Point once per turn. If you do spend a Focus Point, you gain resistance to that damage type until the end of your next turn.

Harmonic Strike. Once per turn when you hit a creature with an Unarmed Strike, you can spend 2 Focus Points to attune to their magical defenses. Choose acid, cold, fire, lightning, or thunder damage. Your Unarmed Strikes deal that damage type and ignore resistance to that type until the end of your next turn.

17th Level: Tamer of the Untamed

At the pinnacle of your discipline, you have become one with the chaotic forces of Thaedros.

Perfect Flow. You can enter a perfect flow state as a bonus action, spending 3 Focus Points. For 1 minute:

  • You automatically succeed on saving throws against spells and magical effects
  • When you use Energy Absorption, you regain 1 Focus Point
  • Your Unarmed Strikes deal an additional 1d10 force damage

Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest.

Storm's Heart. You have become a living nexus of chaotic energy. As an action, you can spend 4 Focus Points to enter a Storm's Heart state for 1 minute. While in this state:

  • When you hit a creature with an Unarmed Strike, you can choose to deal force, lightning, or thunder damage instead of the normal damage type
  • Hostile creatures that start their turn within 10 feet of you take 1d6 force damage
  • When you use Energy Absorption, you can absorb energy from magical effects targeting creatures within 30 feet of you (not just yourself)

Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest.
