The Falgirs

Northwest of Arakol, a ring of volcanic islands rises from the ocean—the remnants of a sunken supervolcano's caldera. The Falgirs consist of a larger central island surrounded by smaller isles, all heated from below by ongoing volcanic activity. This keeps the climate unusually tropical despite the latitude.

The islands became a refuge for many genet, Ashaazi, and Ruhndrogha during the Diaspora. But the Falgirs remain isolated for much of the year. Heavy storm seasons make the crossing from Arakol impossible by ship for roughly three-quarters of the calendar, leaving the inhabitants to their own devices and the islands shrouded in mystery.

When the storms break, traders and explorers make the dangerous journey, bringing news, goods, and stories of a culture shaped by isolation and volcanic temperament.
