Warforged

Model Fornalt

Arcane-infused spellcasters designed to harness and stabilize Thaedros' chaotic magic through eldrite spell cores.

Model Fornalt

Intricate, refined, and imbued with arcane precision, Fornalt warforged stand as Thaedros' most enigmatic spellcasters. Unlike their Gedrival kin, Fornalt models were constructed from lighter, finer metals and crystalline structures, their designs favoring dexterity over brute force. Most notably, they possess the ability to integrate "spell cores"—geometric eldrite constructs that amplify and direct magical energies. This function has made them adept wielders of arcane power, though it also leaves them somewhat fragile compared to other warforged models.

In Thaedros, Fornalt models have taken to wandering the land, appearing in the wake of wild magic storms to aid in the cleanup. Their ability to dispel lingering effects and stabilize magical anomalies has been invaluable to settlements, particularly in the more unstable regions of Arakol. Many Fornalt models have also become scholars, studying the ebb and flow of Thaedros' magic in an effort to understand the world's chaotic arcane currents.

Unlike their Gedrival counterparts, Fornalts tend toward curiosity and introspection, though they are pragmatic in their pursuit of knowledge. Their representative in Yldan's parliament, Celestine, is a measured and analytical figure, advocating for careful research into eldrite cores and the magical infrastructure of their lost civilization.

Racial Traits

Special Abilities

Construct Resilience You do not require food, drink, or air, and you do not sleep. Instead, you enter a diagnostic state for 4 hours, during which you remain aware of your surroundings and cannot be surprised.

Integrated Repair Systems You cannot be healed by magical healing. Instead, you are proficient with Tinker's Tools and can use them to repair yourself. Once per short rest, you can restore 2d6 hit points. Acid damage cannot be repaired in this way.

Mending Repair The Mending cantrip can be used to repair your frame, restoring 1d6 hit points at 1st level, 2d6 at 5th level, 3d6 at 11th level, and 4d6 at 17th level. You can receive repairs this way a number of times equal to your Constitution modifier (minimum 1) per long rest. While effective for superficial damage, excessive mending risks affecting your inner workings.

Acid Vulnerability When you take Acid damage while unarmored, your maximum hit points are reduced by half the damage taken until you undergo repairs.

Arcane Frame You were designed with enhanced eldrite circuitry that allows you to incorporate eldrite spell cores into your frame. You may incorporate one such spell core into your frame at 1st, 5th, 10th, 15th, 20th, 25th, and 30th level. Spell cores can be created by an artificer with access to a blank eldrite spell core and a scroll of an appropriate level. Once incorporated, you may cast each of your incorporated spells once per long rest according to the rules of each spell, but do not require components to cast these spells. You may replace your spell cores during a long rest, but each spell core slot can only support a spell core of its level or lower.

Shutdown Protocol At 0 hit points, you do not die but instead shut down. Unless your eldrite core is destroyed, you can be repaired. Destroying your core is considered permanent death, though a level 10 artificer may attempt to rebuild it.

Basic Traits

Armor Integration You do not wear armor normally. Instead, you incorporate it into your frame. It takes one hour to don or remove armor, and it cannot be forcefully removed.

Languages You can speak, read, and write Common and one additional language of your choice.
