If the race of Dwarves claim to be as old as the mountains, then the elves will eruditely lecture on the lifecycle of mountains before claiming to have witnessed this cycle from start to finish more than once. That said, there is no other race with so deep a connection to the currents of magic in the world. Or at least, to the magic of their native Encara. The Elvish connection to magic on Thaedros is a somewhat different story.
Elves are beings of magic, and depending on the source were either born of the first magic of Encara fully formed and conscious, or they were lovingly crafted by each of the Sleeping Gods — the possibly mythical first deities of Encara — to tend the various regions of Encara. In either case, it is so uncommon for an elf to be born without some inherent magical connection that those born without have often been considered to be without actual life. The 'dead' elves were typically exiled from their home nations, and the vast majority of half-elves in the world are descended from such exiles who made their way as they could in what other communities of the races of Encara would take them in.
Now, as the nations of elves seek to forge a connection with the magic of this new world, the long-lived elves have only just begun to produce new generations. These new elves appear to have an easier time connecting to the magic of the land, but this has proven both a blessing and a curse, for the magic of Thaedros is not the gentle lake of mana that Encara provided, but rather a surging ocean, prone to great swells and storms. Those elves born in the midst of these storms often grow to be very peculiar indeed…
The various elven cultures have existed quite a long time independent of one another, and as such, elven characters have no centralized bonuses as characters. Instead, each race of elves receives specific ability bonuses and racial features. However, all races are quick footed and possessed of almost supernatural awareness of their surroundings, and receive +5 to their base movement speed.
