People of Thaedros

Humans

Adaptable people who lack connection to old world magic but thrive through ingenuity and cooperation in Thaedros.

Humans

Before the arrival of the Multitude, humans were poised to become one of the most populous races on Encara. This had not always been the case; their presence on the old world only extended back around five thousand years—when the worldgates first opened, admitting a few thousand humans into Encara before their enchantments went quiet and remained so for millennia.

Because humans were not native to Encara, they lacked an inherent connection to its magic upon arrival. At the time, this presented significant challenges to their adaptation. Yet since the Diaspora, this detachment has proved to be a small blessing. While the other races struggle against the very essence of Thaedros for survival, humans have been largely unaffected by the wild magic that pulses through the world's veins and arteries. They have thousands of years of experience doing things the "hard way," and as a result, the first permanent settlements on Thaedros were largely thanks to human grit, ingenuity, and sheer desperation.

Their adaptability has allowed humans to spread into regions of Thaedros that other races find inhospitable. However, it is rare to find a purely human settlement—humans integrate easily with other races, even those traditionally antagonistic toward one another. This tendency toward cooperation, coupled with their relentless drive to carve out homes wherever possible, has made them a vital thread in the tapestry of Thaedros' emerging civilizations.

On Encara, humans had long since expanded, establishing enclaves that grew into towns, then cities, and eventually into sprawling nations. Since the Diaspora, those national identities have largely dissolved into one another out of necessity. Now, nearly the entire human population of Thaedros is concentrated in central Yldan, though many frontier settlements—initially scouted and founded by Yldanian humans—have begun to take root in the wilder lands. Whether they are rebuilding lost legacies or forging entirely new ones, humans persist, as they always have, shaping the future of Thaedros with calloused hands and unyielding determination.
