The Feloi, a cunning and agile people, were originally created as weapons under the rule of Matrig Galphane. Yet, of all the Genet, they proved the most resistant to his control. Whether by some quirk of alchemy or by sheer defiance, they retained a strong connection to magic, a gift their creator had desperately tried to suppress. Though not all Feloi are born sorcerers, they gravitate toward the arcane, their natural curiosity and independent spirit leading them to explore the deeper mysteries of the world.
The Genet were created from humans and beasts, and this stock was presumed by Galphane to ensure that there would be little or no chance of his creations developing a talent for magic. Sorcerous bloodlines were meticulously culled from his future subjects while he held the ear of the king he would later usurp. However, despite his safeguards both in engineering his ascent as well as the alchemical formulae he used to create his beast servants, Clan Feloi proved quite challenging. It seems that many of the myths and legends regarding the mystical nature of cats both large and small may have been based in some degree of truth, and Clan Feloi were crafted from leopards, jaguars, tigers, and lions.
Although some among the Genet have since been born with magical ancestry awakened by some quirk of fate and bloodline, none have awakened to that gift as frequently as clan Feloi. Those who aren't born with the gift, or burden, of sorcery often gravitate toward wizardry, or some other arcane path. They have a natural curiosity that lends itself to exploration of the darker secrets of the world. Now, on Thaedros, they apply that same curiosity to exploration of the lands the Genet hope to claim as their new home.
Now on Thaedros, the Feloi have embraced this new world as a frontier of untapped magic and forgotten knowledge. Many travel as scholars, explorers, and spellcasters, seeking out lost secrets or testing their talents in this land of shifting wild magic. Others use their agility and instincts to survive in the untamed lands, treating the new world as a grand challenge to overcome.
